What is a Meowmulet?

Borrowed from Latin amulētum, an amulet is charm often said to be inscribed with a magic incantation or symbol to aid the wearer or protect against evil.  The term is first known to be in use in 1584!

A Meowmulet is charm that cat or human can wear for protection, connection and strength!  Meowmulets can come in different forms, it is up to wearer to decide if it is purely decorative or has some other meaning or function.

Miss Tilly’s Meowmulets have been sourced such that while kitty may wear one on his or her collar, kitty’s human companion may wear a Meowmulet as earrings, necklace or use as a key chain.

 How did Meowmulets come about?

When Miss Tilly and her sister, Miss Nori were wee kittens, they had some adventures.  Miss Nori had an attraction to eating small rocks, causing many tummy issues. 

In the Fall of 2022, Miss Tilly, initially was diagnosed with FIP (feline infectious peritonitis).  This rare disease effects less than 1 percent of all cats.  While there is medication believed to help or even cure FIP, it is not legally obtained in the United States. Therefore, the diagnosis is considered fatal. 

Unexplainably, Miss Tilly recovered from her illness.  Whether this means the FIP was a misdiagnosis or that Miss Tilly is a special cat, we don’t know.

But the combination of Miss Tilly’s illness and Miss Nori’s eating habits, caused their adopted mom to start thinking about keeping them safe and protected.  It was in this way, that the idea of  Meowmulets came into being.

Then in discussion with some inventive ladies, it was suggested that Meowmulets should not be something limited to kittens but should extend to humans as well.  In fact, the opportunity should be available that cats and their humans should be able to have matching Meowmulets!  We thank these ladies for their inspiration!
